The Meeting

By: Tina

By the way I told my story to this small Yeerk fighting force, that I silently call The Resistence, it sounded as if I had meant to be captured. That was not entirely true. What I hoped would happen is that I would find one of the Andlites before that being would see me, not the other way around. Being captured by them just put a three day delay on my plan. As of now I had two more days before they would even listen to me without calling me their new nickname for "human coming to see the almighty Andalites without an invitation", or 'Yeerk' for short.

Two days has gone by and I had nothing to do but think, and think I did. Yet, no matter how much I thought, a couple things still confused me. First off, my food was human food, not a plate of grass. How these Andalites found out what humans eat was beyond me. Secondly, five of the six aliens that I had seen were always in morph. All the ones that were in morph, left before the two hour time period was up. That is everone except one, the hawk. These querrys (questions) are what led me to believe that not all of these beings are Andalites. What other species, I am not sure. All I could guess is that if one of them was not human, they must have learned the human diet from seeing another of my kind eat. Intresting thought.

After my three days of being tied up in a cave, the Andilite in hawk morph came to me, alone. He told me not to be startled. The strange thing is he used my name, my real name. As he demorphed I found out why. My brother a hawk.

The crazy thing about it is the only thing I could say was "I knew you were not all Andalites." His suprised expression confirmed my suspision, these beings wanted to conceal their idenities. Too bad.

It was dumb, really really dumb, but I had to do it. I had to show Janet who I really was; let her know that I knew who she was. Besides I wanted, no, needed some answers, and I needed them now!

It has been three days, and still no Yeerk. Is it possible we were wrong about her being infested. Whether she was or not, it was safe to reveal myself now. That is just what I did. Though I expeced her startled expression what she said suprised me. I did not have to show her what I was, she already knew. Then someone came in.

JAKE

It had been three days, maybe a little longer, since we had brought the girl to the cave, no Yeerk. Since she was not a controller she really must have wanted to talk to us herself. I met the others at Cassie's barn, that is all except Tobais and Ax. Speaking of Tobias, he has been acting strangly, almost as if he was hiding something, since the stranger appeared. Oh well, he will tell us when he is ready. I mean it's not like he would do anything dangerous, would he?

When we had arrived at the cave, I went in alone as we had decided. Tobias was there in human form. At first I was too angry to notice the suprised look on his face, but when I did, I could tell that it was not from seeing a Siberian Tiger strolling in as if it owned the place. Something this person said startled him, and I was going to find out what.

<All right, time for some answers.> I said as calmly as I could.

"I can only give answers to questions that are asked. No matter what you think, I can not read your mind. Also, no matter what you do to me, I will give little information, until you say, I'm free." said the girl.

<Tell me> I said losing patience <How am I to know if I can trust you enough to set you free, if you don't tell me who you are.>

"I could say the same to you, after all you know what I am. The only thing I know of you is you are, as far as I can tell, the only group of non-Andlites that have the ability to morph. Oh, and by the way, I knew that before birdboy turned into Tobias."

I was getting nowhere with her, so I decided to call a meeting with the others, outside the cave.

When the others found out what had happened, they, as well as I, didn't know what to do. Then Tobias told us what he knew.

I do not know what convinced them to set me free. I know I sure didn't. My brother, the Tiger, and the rest of their gang came in to tell me that I was, as of now, a free person. They all, as far as I can tell, looked suprised that I then cut the bonds that held me. I could understand why. I had just proven that I had chosen to stay, and that I could have broken away at any time. Now I had their attention.

PREVIEW OF THE WAR

My first battle with the Animorphs. I was excited. We had won! Yet, deep down I knew I did not belong with them. I had hoped that it was just fear. Now I understood, although we had won, I indangered the entire team with my incapibility to become another spieces. I could not quit the war, but I could not put the Animorphs in that kind of danger again. I would have to decide what to do, now.
